If there’s one lesson that my parents taught me, that is to work hard and prepare for my future. My parents are some of the most hardworking people that I know but we aren’t rich. As a matter of fact, we have been struggling financially for as long as I can remember.

My tatay lost his job as a factory worker when I was in High School. From then on, he took several jobs just so he can provide for our family. At such a young age, I took some part-time jobs too, studied hard, and even managed to get myself a scholarship from Highschool until I graduated from college with a degree. We all worked very hard to be where I am right now and I am forever thankful to my parents. I must say that life wasn’t easy but it taught me how to be strong.

I am very proud of my past and happy how everything turned out with my life but I have to say, now that I’m a parent, I realized that I want to do this differently. I want to make sure that my child lives a comfortable life. I want to give her a better future. 🙂

My Fear as a Parent

They say that “Being a Mother is learning about strengths you didn’t know you had and dealing with fears you never knew existed” and I can’t help but agree.

As a mom, I constantly worry about my little one’s welfare and her future. My love for her is overflowing and I want to make sure that she is always safe and protected. Besides, isn’t that what every parent wants? <3

Whenever I get sick, the first thing that comes to my mind is “What would happen to my child when I’m gone?” I know you might think that I’m a pessimist but really, I just want to be a realist. I’m sure that this thought crosses every parent’s mind because it’s one of the many biggest fears of every parent: dying and leaving their child in this world to deal with everything. I don’t even want to think about it but I have to. I have to foresee this so I can deal with it. Plan ahead and prepare.

As I mentioned, I want to make sure that my little one lives a comfortable life.. even when I’m no longer around. To do that, I need to prepare for that inevitable moment as early as now. This is something not a lot of people are open to talk about but since it’s about my child’s future, I don’t mind planning for it and I think everyone should do the same too.
